Pune city



Pune city is the administrative headquarters of Pune district and was once the center of power of the Maratha Empire.
Pune is known to have existed as a town since 847 AD. It was the first capital of the Maratha Empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosale. In the 18th century, Pune became the political centre of Indian subcontinent, as the seat of Peshwas who were the prime ministers of the Maratha Empire.
Pune is sometimes considered the cultural capital of Maharashtra. Since the 1950-60s, Pune has had traditional old-economy industries which continue to grow. The city is now also known for Manufacturing, Automobile, Government & Private sector Research Institutes, Information technology (IT) as well as Educational, Management and Training institutes that attract migrants, students and professionals not only from India but also from South East Asia, Middle East and African countries.

Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple (Marathiश्रीमंत दगडूशेठ हलवाई गणपती) in Pune is dedicated to the Hindu GodGanesh. The temple is popular in Maharashtra and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year.[1][2] Devotees of the temple include celebrities and Chief Ministers of Maharashtra who visit during the annual ten-day Ganeshotsav festival.[3] The main Ganesh idol is insured for sum of INR10 million (US$170,000)

Hinjawadi is a locality now treated as the IT Village of Pune which is located on the NH4 bypass around the city of Pune in India. Hinjawadi is the locality in the western part of Pune, the seventh largest metropolis in India. hirgaon is popularly know as Prati-Shirdi among Sai devotees. Shirgaon is situated off old Bombay-Pune highway. Its around 32 Km from Pune railway station. Shri Saibaba temple was established here on 11th June 2003 by Mr Prakash Keshavrao Deole. The building work was completed in nine months with the blessings of Shri Saiababa. This was considered to be one of the miracles. The people working at the temple site experienced various Chamatkaras during these nine months. Now Shirgaon is know for the Saitemple. There are lot of similarities in Shirgaon and Shirdi. The name itself resembles to Shirdi to great extent.

Parvati Hill is a hillock in PuneIndia. The hillock rises up to 2,100 feet (640 m) above sea level. Atop the hillock is the Parvati Temples, which are one of the most scenic locations in Pune. The temple is the oldest heritage structure in Pune and was built in the Peshwa Dynasty rule.The main temple, Devdeveshwara, is made of blackstone. It was completed under Nanasaheb Peshwa, in 1749. Other temples are dedicated to Vitthal and RukminiVishnu, and Kartikeya.

The Lal Mahal (Red Palace) of Pune is one of the most famous monuments located in PuneIndia. In the year 1630 AD, Shivaji's Father Shahaji Bhonsle, established the Lal Mahal for his wife Jijabai and son. Shivaji stayed here for several years until he captured his first fort. The original Lal Mahal fell into ruins and the current Lal Mahal is a reconstruction of the original and located in the center of the Pune city. Historically, the Lal Mahal is famous for an encounter between Shivaji and Shaista Khan where Shivaji cut off the later's fingers when he was trying to escape from the window of the Lal Mahal.
