Pune city



Pune city is the administrative headquarters of Pune district and was once the center of power of the Maratha Empire.
Pune is known to have existed as a town since 847 AD. It was the first capital of the Maratha Empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosale. In the 18th century, Pune became the political centre of Indian subcontinent, as the seat of Peshwas who were the prime ministers of the Maratha Empire.
Pune is sometimes considered the cultural capital of Maharashtra. Since the 1950-60s, Pune has had traditional old-economy industries which continue to grow. The city is now also known for Manufacturing, Automobile, Government & Private sector Research Institutes, Information technology (IT) as well as Educational, Management and Training institutes that attract migrants, students and professionals not only from India but also from South East Asia, Middle East and African countries.

Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple (Marathiश्रीमंत दगडूशेठ हलवाई गणपती) in Pune is dedicated to the Hindu GodGanesh. The temple is popular in Maharashtra and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year.[1][2] Devotees of the temple include celebrities and Chief Ministers of Maharashtra who visit during the annual ten-day Ganeshotsav festival.[3] The main Ganesh idol is insured for sum of INR10 million (US$170,000)

Hinjawadi is a locality now treated as the IT Village of Pune which is located on the NH4 bypass around the city of Pune in India. Hinjawadi is the locality in the western part of Pune, the seventh largest metropolis in India. hirgaon is popularly know as Prati-Shirdi among Sai devotees. Shirgaon is situated off old Bombay-Pune highway. Its around 32 Km from Pune railway station. Shri Saibaba temple was established here on 11th June 2003 by Mr Prakash Keshavrao Deole. The building work was completed in nine months with the blessings of Shri Saiababa. This was considered to be one of the miracles. The people working at the temple site experienced various Chamatkaras during these nine months. Now Shirgaon is know for the Saitemple. There are lot of similarities in Shirgaon and Shirdi. The name itself resembles to Shirdi to great extent.

Parvati Hill is a hillock in PuneIndia. The hillock rises up to 2,100 feet (640 m) above sea level. Atop the hillock is the Parvati Temples, which are one of the most scenic locations in Pune. The temple is the oldest heritage structure in Pune and was built in the Peshwa Dynasty rule.The main temple, Devdeveshwara, is made of blackstone. It was completed under Nanasaheb Peshwa, in 1749. Other temples are dedicated to Vitthal and RukminiVishnu, and Kartikeya.

The Lal Mahal (Red Palace) of Pune is one of the most famous monuments located in PuneIndia. In the year 1630 AD, Shivaji's Father Shahaji Bhonsle, established the Lal Mahal for his wife Jijabai and son. Shivaji stayed here for several years until he captured his first fort. The original Lal Mahal fell into ruins and the current Lal Mahal is a reconstruction of the original and located in the center of the Pune city. Historically, the Lal Mahal is famous for an encounter between Shivaji and Shaista Khan where Shivaji cut off the later's fingers when he was trying to escape from the window of the Lal Mahal.





Shaniwarwada is a palace fort in the city of Pune

Shaniwarwada is a palace fort in the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India. Built in 1746, it was the seat of the Peshwa rulers of the Maratha Empire until 1818 when the Peshwas surrendered to the British. The fort itself was largely destroyed in 1828 by an unexplained fire, but the surviving structures are now maintained as a tourist site.

Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium is a cricket stadium located at Gahunje near Pune, India.
It served as the home stadium for the Maharashtra cricket team including headquarters for the Maharashtra Cricket Associationand Indian Premier League team Pune Warriors India now defunct.
With India having the largest cricket audience in the world and Indian influence in international cricket growing, the MCA decided a new stadium was needed. Hopkins Architects of London was commissioned to design a new 36,000 seat stadium in Pune and the stadium was the result.






Chaturshringi Temple

The Chaturshringi Temple is a Hindu temple in the city of PuneMaharashtraIndia. The temple is located on the slope of a hill on Senapati Bapat Road. It is said to have been built during the reign of the Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle. The temple is looked after by Chaturshringi Devasthan (Temple) trustees, with full dedication.
Chaturshringi (Chatur means four) is a mountain with four peaks. The Chaturshringi temple is 90 feet high and 125 feet wide and is a symbol of power and faith. One has to climb more than 100 steps to reach the shrine of GoddessChaturshringi. In the temple premises there are also temples of Goddess Durga and Lord Ganesh. This includes eight miniature idols of Ashtavinayaka. These small temples are located on the four separate hillocks.


Saras Baug ,The Ganesh temple in Saras Baug is also known as Talyatla Ganpati

Saras Baug is a major landmark in City of Pune in India. The place where the park now stands was once occupied by a small lake. However, the lake got dried up and was later developed into Saras Baug. The whole 25-acre (10 ha) complex is known as Saras Baug. The Ganesh temple in Saras Baug is also known as Talyatla Ganpati (inMarathi:तळ्यातला गणपती )

ISKON New Vedic Cultural Center (NVCC) is a temple of Krishna located in Kondhwa about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) south ofPune. It is a pleasant and calm place in the outskirts of the city of Pune. It was recently inaugurated on the auspicious occasion of Nityananda Tryodshi which falls on 23 February 2013 and the President of India Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the Vedic Cultural Centre of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on February 24, at Pune.

Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden or Pu La Deshpande Udyan

Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden or Pu La Deshpande Udyan is a garden located on Sinhagad Road (Narvir Tanaji Malusare Road) in PuneMaharashtra, India. It was built in inspiration of 300-year-old Okayama's Kōraku-en Garden, so it is also called as Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden.

It was in Pune in 1894 that Lokmanya Tilak initiated the concept of the "Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav" — the collective communal celebration of the festival of Lord Ganesha. During the month of August or September each year, the city celebrates the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi

                                   


During this time, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation organizes the month-long Pune Festival which hosts classical dance and music recitals, a film and drama festival, automobile rallies and some traditional sports.




                                      









Sinhagad, Sinhgarh, or Sinhgad (Marathi: सिंहगड, The Lion's Fort)

SinhagadSinhgarh, or Sinhgad (Marathi: सिंहगड, The Lion's Fort), is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometres southwest of the city of PuneIndia. Previously called Kondhana (Marathi: कोंढाणा), the fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the battle of Sinhagad in 1670. It was also strategically located at the centre of a string of other forts such as Rajgad,Purandar and Torna.
